The Sixth Child has a mission to provide school uniforms for disadvantaged children.
By providing a new school uniform for a child, the Sixth Child is helping to relieve the yearly pressure that some families go through to send their child to school by taking away one expense.
A gifted uniform is a tremendous help for families, not to mention the child who can now fit and not feel different from their peers.
Many disadvantaged families with Health Care cards can get Emergency Relief for uniforms, however this is only a few items that for the most part does not go very far.
It is sad to think that even in “The Lucky Country” there are so many children who must go to school in old, damaged and often small uniforms as their families don’t have the funds to purchase these necessary items.
However, there are many families that are working and don’t have Health Care Cards. These families will turn to The Sixth Child for support with a uniform and other educational requirements.
It may not seem like a big thing, but for a child to have the proper uniform that fits, is not damaged and is a current (final year jumper) can make a significant difference to the self-esteem and wellbeing of the child.
If you can, please assist The Sixth Child to help children lead happier and fuller lives by supporting our Uniform funding.
